The Sordid Truth about Love in this Square World

Monday, April 30th, 2012

Love as we would like to know it, is something that germinates within us and gives us seemingly uncontrollable bursts of love and passion inside all of us. Ideally, it makes everything around us more interesting and desirable and we have new elevated feelings that unfolds and gives us insights into the world never imagined before. We know that love truly comes from the heart and many of us are still waiting in anticipation to bite into this forbidden apple. Can love be so overpowering and yet so distant? I fear not, and love can surely be induced by the will of the person.

The Sordid Truth about Love in this Square World

The Sordid Truth about Love in this Square World

We all like to romanticize love and throughout history we have fashioned couples who portray love in its most purest form such as Romeo & Juliet, Cleopatra & Mark Anthony, Lancelot and Guinevere and the list goes on. It seems that love has no boundaries and effectively the couples are so drenched with each other in love that all practicalities of life takes secondary precedence. The question is how long will this love be sustained and will a true measure of its omnipotence be until the dying days. Inevitably we characterize the zealous love between the two lovers with a tragic ending. Clearly the notions of fantastic love has no place on this earth.

Related dating article of Love - The burning factions of love

No doubt all of us in some way strive towards such unbridled feelings that emancipates the very depth and soul of our body and says unto you ‘this is the real you’. Because of this innate nature in all of us, we can in fact have the capability and the capacity for love. However, this capacity will take on a whole new shape if the ‘love’ is not reciprocated. Let me give you examples, you like someone of the opposite sex and every being in your body says ‘it’s a good thing’. You let your heart take over and soon you are engaged in a love story all by yourself. If your partner happens to feel the same way, then you are in luck, however if he/she is skilled in the nuances of love and affection, you can find yourself ensnared in the love of your own making.

The point is that everyone has the ‘key’ to love and they can open it with whomever they wish but their selection is deeply rooted in their own personal feelings and trust with that individual. We live in a world where it’s moving at the speed of light and people are becoming less patient and more into their own lives. We need to pause and take a breath and rather than the physical world consuming the very energy inside of us, we need to step back and reflect. The world needs to become less square and more round for love to take on it’s original understanding and meaning that it always had.

Relationship is a two way thing - perk it up with some exciting tips

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

The first date is an important one for many of us but yet we limit the number of venues or events for this eventful time. For example, we usually do one of these things; movies, dinner date, walk in the park or sit down at a coffee house. Although, there is absolutely nothing wrong with these type of events especially if you are meeting up for the first time, there is a whole world of possibilities that you could be missing out and enhance your relationship.

relationship-in-a-two-way-thing-perk-it-up-with-some-exciting-tips

Remember not to take dating events as simply just another event, think of it as a way of getting intimately close to your dating partner. What makes your partner tick, what makes you tick and what events could bring out this information and make the whole event fun and a memorable one. Of course, it has been said that if couples do like each other, the actual event or venue becomes secondary to their own presence with each other. This may be true, but if you think about it, how well do you know this person, you may have a tingling sensation when you are with this person but is that enough?

The natural design for couples dating is to use a combination of their heads and heart when it comes to summing up each other. If the focus is too much on the feelings then we could be in for a torrential roller coaster of a ride where we literally fall off from the other end! If we keep our feelings in check and make the practicalities of life as an important factor in determining the partner’s suitability then we have a balanced approach and to all intents and purposes this is probably the correct approach.

Think about it, if you are finding frivolously wandering through life going aimlessly from one partner to another, then something is amiss. Either you have your standards way up high and you need to appreciate the real facts in life and perhaps focus more on your partner rather than what you want. If you have a lack of partners, this could be due to the lack of communication between the opposite sex and not being able to go deep enough with anyone about your own personal feelings and thoughts.

Whatever the reasons could be, it is always a good idea to take the emphasis away from ‘you’ and concentrate on the greater and broader things in life that awaits you. Next time you go out on a date, try to think outside of the box and instead of what you can get out of it, see what you can give back.

Essential gender criterias in the dating game - part 4

Monday, April 23rd, 2012

essential-gender-criterias-in-the-dating-game-part-3

A woman who is in her early 40s will have some initial difficulty in attracting younger men especially if they do not have the financial success that some men could compromise with. The assessment of personality in most cases by men do not come until they are well into the relationship. In this case, the relationship could have a stronger footing based on a union of trust and likeability rather than just on financial grounds. It could be the reason why many women in their late age do so much to look young and to attract the younger men into their lives. A majority of men would always like to leave the option of having offsprings with their partner and older women of 40s have a lower chance of conceiving as a result of menopause. Still this does not preclude many men to pursue older women who belong to that category but women need to exercise caution when selecting their partners. The men should be in the relationship for the long-haul unless the woman too is looking for a frivolous short-term fun and excitement.

For the average man and woman amongst us who are not fortunate enough to have the financial success that some enjoy the selection of dating partners becomes even more distinct and may even be construed as gender discriminatory. Older women will find it even harder to attract potentially young males and older men will continue to enjoy their prowess with younger ladies. Looks alone will not be sufficient for older ladies since younger men will also have more energy and enthusiasm for life and many older women will not be able to keep up.

Does one end up accepting their own fate in the gender cycle or does one always do something about it? I believe it depends on an individual’s personality and the way one goes about judging their own youth and old age. I am of the opinion that one should depart oneself from the constant thought of growing older and the negative thoughts that this brings. Life should be about learning, experiencing different things, excelling yourself in mind and physical activities. If you find yourself not having enough time during the day to do everything you want to do then you are probably heading in the right direction.

Son looks for a Dating Partner for his Father in Sleepless in Seattle

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

Movie: Sleepless in Seattle
Year: 1993
Genre: Romance/Comedy
Director: Nora Ephron
Stars: Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan and Ross Malinger

Snapshot of Story:
‘Sleepless in Seattle’ is an enchanting romantic story about a man who had lost his wife through cancer and has a young boy who calls a popular radio show requesting a wife for his dad.

Review of Sleepless in Seattle

Review of Sleepless in Seattle

Storyline:
The story was a big hit at its time due to the simple charming story and the screen presence of both stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. In fact the two went onto make another hit movie called ‘You Got Mail’.

Meg Ryan in her usual boyish but feminine way plays Annie Reed who is engaged to Walter (Bill Pullman) but is desperately looking for more in their relationship. She overhears the radio broadcast of Sam Baldwin and his son while driving back from New York and is captivated by the sad story of the father and son. The entire event is instilled in her mind and she discusses this with her best friend Suzy the next day. In the meantime, the radio show stirred up much interest from all of the Seattle folks in particular from women who sent invitations for marriage.

Annie is unable to shake the strange fascination and attraction for Sam and at one time continues to write a letter to Sam in front of her best friend in which she crumples it up and throws it into the garbage bin. Back in Seattle, Sam is inundated with letters that are now coming in sacks and while Sam refuses to read them, the boy Jonah Baldwin reads some of them with great excitement. Sam insists that the traditional approach to dating where couples meet and have drinks and dinner are the best form of attaining a partner. However, the recent event of the radio show spurs him to pull out his old telephone book and call some of his past female friends to see if he can rekindle some of the lost romanticism since the loss of his wife.

It was clear that Sam could not forget his wife who was shown appearing in one of the scenes where he was laying down to sleep. Despite his bereavement and lack of sleep, Sam continues to do his daily job as an architect and comes to learn that all his friends and colleagues have come to know about the radio show.
Jonah and his school friend come across one letter and talks about a rendezvous in the Empire State building during Valentine’s day. He is taken back by this letter and believes that this is the woman for his father and shows this to him who dismisses it as nothing important.

Sam continues to receive words of encouragement from his colleagues and friends as they learn of the radio show. One evening where Sam meets up with a good friend and his wife for dinner, he mentions the letter that his son spoke of and the wife is able to relate the meeting in the empire state building to an old movie by Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr called ‘An Affair to Remember’. This sets the tone for the remainder of the movie.
After a few missed opportunities and unexpected twists and turns Sam finally ends up at the Empire State building on Valentine’s day and meets Annie during that fateful moment.

Final Thoughts:
Although there were no actual screen romanticism on the part of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in this movie it was nevertheless a good rendition of how two different people portrayed in their independent lifestyles can make a fitting couple. This thought was left to the imagination of the audience and the same technique applied in the later movie by the two stars called ‘You have Mail’. The movie is a one-time viewing that is very heart warming, entertaining and watchable.

7.5/10

Review of Salman Khan’s Action Movie: Wanted

Friday, November 18th, 2011

Movie: Wanted
Director: Prabhu Deva
Time: 2009
Stars: Salman Khan, Ayesha Takia and Vinod Khanna

Snapshot of the story

Wanted is a story of an under cover cop played by Salman Khan in hunt for a gangster that made life in the city like hell even during daylight. Corrupt cops are also mixed with then making the situation worse. Salman Khan works for Gani bhai ( Prakash Raj) and will kill any one for money.

Theme of Story

There not much sense in the story and it is just for pure entertainment masala movie. There are many other movies made by Salman Khan and Wanted is one of them. Wanted is the remake of Tamil film Pokiri directed by Prabhu Deva which is also not an original concept and inspired from a Telugu film. Wanted from the beginning has the high action drama and shows Salman Khan doing the action scene across the city. Bullets firing, head smashing in the windows and Salman coming out of smoke fires put Salman Khan’s Dabangg on screen and off screen image. In all there action scenes Salman falls in love with sweet girls Jhanvi (played by Ayesha Takia) who works in a call center. Wanted is fast paced movie and if you are a  action movie lover then this one is full of entertainment for the viewer. Released on the eve of EID, it contributed to it’s grand opening of the movie worldwide. Salman has made lot of effort with this release and in the marketing of the movie. Music of the movie is good and the song like “Mera Hi Jalwa” was the popular dance number used in many dance reality shows.

Review of Salman Khan's Action Movie: Wanted

Review of Salman Khan's Action Movie: Wanted

On Screen Chemistry

Salman Khan was outstanding and as I said earlier the film does not make any real sense. Vinod Khanna as Salman’s Father and ex-policemen was good in his short performance. Music was not the highlight of this movie despite the one off hit of ‘Mera Hi Jalwa’.

Rating

I would give this 6 out of 10 for a powerhouse performance by Salman, the cuteness of Ayesha Takia and good choreography by Pradhu Deva on “Tera Hi Jalwa” that features Govinda and Anil Kapoor.

Ratings and Reviews of Singham

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

Movie: Singham
Director: Rohit Shetty
Time: 2009
Stars: Ajay Devgan, Kajal Agrawal and Prakash Raj

Snapshot of the story

Rohit Shetty has made good action movies as a small town cop Singham (Ajay Devgan) who is honest, likes to help all and can not tolerate injustice (in short a perfect cop) gets entangled with a gangster who uses his political power to make his life a mysery. It is a face paced story showing how he overcomes these challenges.

Ratings and Reviews of Singham

Ratings and Reviews of Singham

Storyline

Ajay Devgan is an honest cop living in a small town who believes in helping people. Because of the small locality every one knows each other. Every thing goes smoothly until the day when Singham wants a local high profile goon Jaykant Shikre (Prakash Raj) to see him in police custody. He tries to avoid this by using his influence which did not work and he needs to visit the police station. With revenge in his mind of this humiliation Jaykant Shikre uses his political power and Singham gets transferred to this locality and then starts the cat and mouse game between them.
This is the most interesting part of the movie as the goon Jaykant Shikre and Singham try to have an upper hand with each other and this is the part of movie where action, drama and love follows. The role of Singham suits very well with Ajay Devgan. The movie has some strong dialogues and larger than life image of an Indian hero. There are some action scenes where we defy the laws of gravity and is entertaining to watch.
In this high action drama director Rohit Shetty has introduced a moving story. Debutant Kajal Agrawal looked beautiful and very impressive in her first movie. Singham finds plenty of convolution in the story and it was good to see how entire police department stands against the goon and overpowers them.

On Screen Chemistry

The charismatic appearance of Ajay Devgan’s steals the show, romance is not the theme of the movie and could be the reason it has not been showcased as well. This is typical of the movie where there is fight over good and bad and one may think if one never gets tired of such stories? Singham does not have a strong storyline but fast paced movie which this is, keeps the audience interested.

Rating

Singham score 6.5 out of 10 for good performance of every actor especially Ajay Devgan and Prakash Raj. Action scenes were good but did not have freshness which we expected.

Top Indian Romantic Movie: Kal Ho Naa Ho

Twist in the Tale

Kal Ho Naa Ho takes the tragic note until SRK becomes so ill and doctor advise him to a complete rest as he has only a few days left in his life. SRK wants both of them to patch and tie the knot. Movie has the sad end with the death of SRK. The theme of the movie is well portrayed that how a man who know that he is going to die but still teaches us a lesson to enjoy every bit of the life as there may not be a tomorrow.

On Screen Chemistry

Shah Rukh Khan was as good as ever but the emotional scenes leave the traces of overacting. Priety Zinta was gorgeous but Saif Ali Khan was wasted with a few dialogs. Some gay scenes in the movie and humor made audiences laugh a bit. Movie is one time watch.

Rating
I will give 7 out of 10 to Kal Ho Naa Ho for it’s romantic music, strong performance from SRK, fluent story telling. It does not have the strong storyline and they also did not reveal what life threatening disease Shah Rukh Khan had.

Debutant Director Farhan Akhtar Rocks with: Dil Chahta Hai

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

Movie: Dil Chahta Hai
Director: Farhan Akhtar
Time: 2001
Stars: Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Priety Zinta, Sonali Kulkarni and Dimple Kapadia

Snapshot of the story

Dil Chahta Hai is the story of three fun loving friends who are recently passed out of the college, unaware about the difficulties of the real world. They are very similar to any college pass-outs who likes to play pranks, make fun of any one and don’t know what to do in life. The story is all about their friendship, cracks in their friendship and their love life and how they find true happiness and friendship.

Debutant Director Farhan Akhtar Rocks with: Dil Chahta Hai

Debutant Director Farhan Akhtar Rocks with: Dil Chahta Hai

Storyline

The story starts with the graduation party and a chart topping number featuring all three stars Akash (played by Aamir Khan), Sameer (Saif Ali Khan) and Siddharth (Akshaye Khanna). In that party they meet Shalini (Priety Zinta) who came with her boyfriend. All of them has different sort of characters as Aamir Khan is real prankster and doesn’t take girls seriously whereas Sameer is completely opposite of Aamir Khan and get’s attracted towards every girl he meets. Siddharth is the most mature guy and an artist and painter.
From the start the movie manages to hold the audience to their seat; Dil Chahta Hai has some of the fantastic and exotic scenes of Goa as they go for their holiday. This short story period of Goa was very well shot and you will see some hilarious moments in the movie.
Story takes a serious turn as Aamir Khan’s has made comment of Akshaye’s friend Tara (Played by Dimple Kapadia) – a divorcee who wants him to make her a painting. All of them get busy in their life as Aamir Khan goes to Australia to take care of her father’s business, Akshaye Khanna find the painting workshop more lucrative to him and Sai Ali Khan still confused as what to do and in tangles with the girl friend. It took some time for Aamir Khan to realize that he had made a mistake that day which created a rift in their friendship. But soon as he comes back and makes up with Akshaye Khanna. On the nother hand Saif Ali Khan is dating Sonali Kulkarni as Pooja and will get married soon. Aamir Khan who was never looking like he will fall in love also starts dating Priety Zinta. This was also an interesting part of the story as he always denies to accept his feelings but had to do it in front of a huge number of people who came to Priery Zinta’s wedding.

On Screen Chemistry

Dil Chahta Hai is a fast paced movie and you will never feel that the director has made any error which is an appreciable debutant for director Farhan Akhtar. Music of the move is good and that would have you whistling even after leaving the cinema hall. Preity Zinta was beautiful and Sonali Kulkarni was looking as girl next door as always. Dimple Kapadia made a come back to screen after a long time and was looking charming as ever.

Rating

I would give 9 out of 10 for Dil Chahta Hai for brilliant story telling, fantastic screen play, exotic locations of Australia considering it if the first movie of Farhan Akhtar. Aamir Khan was awesome as ever and all the trio looked exceptional.
