Storyline

Prem (Salman Khan) is a well settled professional living a life in a leading fashion house and has a beautiful wife Pooja (Kashmira Kapoor). The nature of the job is such that Prem is surrounded with beautiful girls and always looking for an opportunity to get friendly with them. Rupali (Sushmita Sen) is an aspirant model working with Prem and during their outdoor assignment they come close and starts getting to know each other. Prem is a flirt by nature and induces a soft corner in Rupali’s heart.

Pooja comes to know about all this and asks him to choose one out of them and Prem choose Rupali. Heartbroken Pooja decides to teach him a lesson and team up with Prem’s friend Lakkhan (Anil Kapoor). This is the most interesting part of the movie as how Pooja becomes the model and uses the Tip for Tat formula.

Story of the movie is very entertaining and the comical timing of Anil Kapoor was fantastic. It is the class of the David Dhawan who creates such an intense topic beautifully sandwiched with comedy. David Dhawan is one the very few directors in Indian cinema who create humor out of any situation. Teaming up with Govinda he has created many comedy hit likes Rajababu, Coolie No.1, Saajan Chale Sasural and the list goes on and on.

Biwi No. 1 was the hit movie of 1999 and bagged many Filmfare awards. Both Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor got the award for the best actor in comic role, Karishma got the award for the best actress and so did David Dhawan who also got the award for the best director.

Salman Khan got the role in which he feels comfortable and at times you feel that he is over acting. Anil Kapoor plays a good supporting hand and one cannot think of anybody else in his role.

In response to this Aman’s parents agree to adopt Akash. Akash and Aman grow up as brothers with all the things getting equally but the difference between both of them is that Aman is a womanizer wandering around with girls while Akash is a responsible guy who looks after the business of his father and writes poems as a hobby in the name of “Sagar”. When the poetry book of Sagar releases into the market he becomes very popular as the book becomes an instant hit. Pooja (played by Madhuri Dixit) is a book stall owner and a fan of Sagar. Pooja is an excellent dancer and recites Sagar’s poet in her songs during her dance performances.

Aman on his business trip meets Pooja and falls in love with her and realizes that Pooja like Sagar, however he never share his feeling with Pooja. When Akash finally meets Pooja he also falls in love with Pooja and Akash shares his feeling for Pooja with Aman. Aman think that this is the right time to repay what Akash’s parents did for him and introduce Akash as Sagar to Pooja.

Saajan becomes the emotional drama like all love stories in Indian cinema as Akash comes to know that for him Aman has sacrificed his love for Pooja.

Final Thoughts

Saajan is an emotionally tangled love story of 90’s and reminds us the classical love story Sangam by legendary Raj Kapoor. Sanjay Dutt was outstanding in Saajan so as Madhuri Dixit. For Director Lawrence D’Souza this is the first big hit, with Saajan he shows that he can make very emotional love stories. Duo Nadeem-Shrawan was exceptional with Saajan’s romantic music.

Rating

We give Saajan 7 out of 10 for strong story narration, good handling to twist in the story and for Nadeem-Shrawan’s music that topped the charts for a long time.

Movie Ratings and Reviews - Ready

    Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

    Movie: Ready
    Director: Anees Bazmee
    Time: 2011
    Genre: Comedy, Romance, Family
Stars: Salman Khan, Asin and Paresh Rawal

    Snapshot of the story

This is yet another Salman Khan Movie and in typical fashion does not make any sense and made for pure entertainment only. Director Anees Bazmee has made romantic movies like “Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha” and comedy like “Deewana Mastana”, “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi” and “No Entry”. This time expectations were high from him but failed to live up to the hype and made an average score in the movie halls with an average story.

    Movie review of Ready

    Movie review of Ready

    Storyline

Ready is a fast paced movie and comes with all the entertainment components such as comedy, drama, musical, romance and action. The story revolves around two goon brothers (Chaudhary brothers) separated by their differences in thinking. Both brothers are in pursuit of an inherited property following the death of their sister. This billion dollar property would go their sister’s daughter Sanjana Singh (played by Asin) and both brother want their brother-in-law to get married to Sanjana and acquire the billion dollar property. In the process of hiding from his own uncles Sanjana meet Prem Kapoor (played by Salman Khan) waiting at the airport to receive his father’s friends daughter whom he never met before. Hiding her identity from Prem and other family members Sanjana enters in to the family.

This entire plot gets exposed to Prem as he gets the access of Sanjana’s Passport. Sanjana tells him the truth of why she is in hiding. Prem promise Sanjana that he will help her in getting her out of this mess. Sanjana and Prem starts liking each other and this is the romantic part of the movie. Salman and Asin looked very good as romantic heroes on-screen.

Like Salman Khan’s other movies Ready also does not make sense and take an unusual and unpredictable twists and turns where finally Prem manages to save Sanjana from her uncle and marry her. In the entire process both Sanjana’s uncles learn the lesson and decide to quit his bad habitual work and promises to live a normal life.

    Final Thoughts

Asin looked very beautiful in this movie and once again she has shown her talent after Ghajani. Salman Khan is again shown as larger than life character and was able to defeat all opponents that come his way. Music of the movie is average and failed to give the kind of push needed to the movie, however the song “Dhinka Chika” was a chart topper for many month. In spite of a big cast the movie failed to attract audience due to it’s weak storyline and screenplay. Ready did not shake the box office despite the festive season that it was launched.

    Rating

Ready scores 5 out of 10 only because of Salman Khan and Asin as they looked beautiful together. Apart from this, Ready does not offer any freshness in the storyline and Pritam also did not score well with his music.

Review of Salman Khan’s Action Movie: Wanted

    Friday, November 18th, 2011

    Movie: Wanted
    Director: Prabhu Deva
    Time: 2009
Stars: Salman Khan, Ayesha Takia and Vinod Khanna

    Snapshot of the story

Wanted is a story of an under cover cop played by Salman Khan in hunt for a gangster that made life in the city like hell even during daylight. Corrupt cops are also mixed with then making the situation worse. Salman Khan works for Gani bhai ( Prakash Raj) and will kill any one for money.

    Theme of Story

There not much sense in the story and it is just for pure entertainment masala movie. There are many other movies made by Salman Khan and Wanted is one of them. Wanted is the remake of Tamil film Pokiri directed by Prabhu Deva which is also not an original concept and inspired from a Telugu film. Wanted from the beginning has the high action drama and shows Salman Khan doing the action scene across the city. Bullets firing, head smashing in the windows and Salman coming out of smoke fires put Salman Khan’s Dabangg on screen and off screen image. In all there action scenes Salman falls in love with sweet girls Jhanvi (played by Ayesha Takia) who works in a call center. Wanted is fast paced movie and if you are a  action movie lover then this one is full of entertainment for the viewer. Released on the eve of EID, it contributed to it’s grand opening of the movie worldwide. Salman has made lot of effort with this release and in the marketing of the movie. Music of the movie is good and the song like “Mera Hi Jalwa” was the popular dance number used in many dance reality shows.

Review of Salman Khan's Action Movie: Wanted

Review of Salman Khan's Action Movie: Wanted

    On Screen Chemistry

Salman Khan was outstanding and as I said earlier the film does not make any real sense. Vinod Khanna as Salman’s Father and ex-policemen was good in his short performance. Music was not the highlight of this movie despite the one off hit of ‘Mera Hi Jalwa’.

    Rating

I would give this 6 out of 10 for a powerhouse performance by Salman, the cuteness of Ayesha Takia and good choreography by Pradhu Deva on “Tera Hi Jalwa” that features Govinda and Anil Kapoor.
