From your end, you want to make sure that your face is clean with only a dab of makeup if you wish and your hair is combed or thrown back so much of your face will appear in the picture.
Make sure to wear a nice top, not too colorful but easy on the eye.
Generally, a very light top will reduce the exposure to your face so your face may appear a bit darker than usual.

A darker top will enhance the appearance of your face as will a darker background.
Only take a headshot of yourself as the main picture.
If the website allows additional photos , you may want to have several poses taken which can include full head to toe shots.
Sometimes it can be a good idea to have a picture taken with you engaged in some sort of activity that you like and do often.
