I am a freelance writer, a teacher with the City Universtity of New York, and a combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps. I despise war, and I love peace and freedom; but, I do realize that sometimes, as the jingoists say, "Freedom is not free." However, we should all remember President Eisenhower admonishment: "Beware the military-industrial complex," for if we ignore that unholy alliance, we will find ourselves on the road to unnecessary war, fascism, race hatred, xenophobia, totalitarianism, and misery.
Religious/Spiritual Values:-
I believe in a supreme deity and a spiritual afterlife. As William Shakespeare once wrote, "There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy...." Much of the our pretty Earth is still unknown to us. We ourselves are often a confounding mystery. And of the celestial sphere, we are learning, but still The Great Darkness is mostly a tantalizing unknown. Let us not probe the night with a sword but, instead, reach out with an open mind and a loving heart.
