Challenges Facing Single Christians
Posted at: 2013-02-11 04:35:18

Will I remain faithful?

Making the decision to become a Christian is the single most important decision that you will make in your life. If you have ever made a large purchase you may have noticed that you had serious doubts about the wisdom of the purchase after you made the decision. This is what marketers recognize as ”buyer’s remorse” and is linked to dissonance theory.

The joy and the excitement of having taken the bold step to become a Christian are accompanied by nagging thoughts about whether you made the right decision. You may recall your ”For eternity” response to the question as to how long you will remain faithful. Yet, the glee with which your answer was received suggests that another response is possible. Your faithfulness till death is not guaranteed.

I want to share with you some proven strategies for helping you in living faithfully as a Christian:

Accept the fact that your doubts and fears are not surprising and is a regular occurrence. You are not alone in this and many have overcome those negative thoughts.

Your concerns are genuine and should be heeded. They are there to protect you from overconfidence and complacency.

Win the battle against the negative forces by seeking security in the constant contact with well grounded, mature Christians.

Knowledge drives out fear. Be a faithful student of the Bible and watch your confidence grow.

2. What about my friends and colleagues?

One issue that is sure to bother you is how to deal with your non-Christian friends and colleagues. The degree of difficulty that friends and colleagues present to your Christian walk is dependent on the relationships you had before you became a Christian.

Be assured about one thing. No matter what reactions you get on the surface, all right thinking individuals respect your decision to accept Jesus as Lord of your life. They may not have the courage to follow your example and peer pressure might cause them to jeer and tease. However, deep inside they appreciate your commitment and hold you in high esteem.

They key now is to ensure that they see the difference in how you lead your life. Be a witness to them by living in keeping with Christian principles.

3. Can I still have fun?

Don’t be surprised if you feel that a decision to become a Christian is a choice to give up fun. Many have the image of a Christian as a very serious-minded individual who has decided to give up happiness.

Be assured that one fruit of the Spirit is JOY. Happy moments and the pleasures of the world are fleeting. Joy is enduring.

Here is some further advice:

3.1 Reflect on your own interests and hobbies. Things that you enjoy doing.

3.2 Seek out Christians that share those interests and work out how you will enjoy wholesome fun together.

3.3 Share with your Christian brethren the fun that can be had in pursuing your interests.

3.4 Open your mind to new opportunities for enjoyment and satisfaction.

4. What if I mess up?

As a Christian you are concerned about your salvation. You are also fully conscious that you are not perfect and that you are not free from sin.

You might even be scared stiff by this quotation from 1 John 3: The fact that we sin from time to time is worrisome and frustrating. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.”

God abhors sin and Christians are required to avoid wilful sinning. With that at the forefront of your mind you can take comfort in this quote from 1 John 1: sentence 5 9 ”If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

It is your attitude to sin that really matters in your Christian journey. True repentance is the answer for those times when you occasionally slip. If you genuinely regret the trespass and commit to doing your best to avoid the error in the future you will be on good grounds.

Study of God’s word and fellowship with supportive Christians are great strategies for remaining faithful in your Christian walk and moving on to claiming Eternal Life.

5. How can I really know what God wants me to do?

Christians of all ages have to grapple with the question of God’s Will for their lives on an ongoing basis. You will also be seeking clarity as what is your life’s purpose and what role you are expected to play in God’s service.

Today, God speaks to us through His word – the Bible. The surest way to feel comfortable about the choices you make is by diligent study of the Scriptures.

You can also benefit from the advice of wise and spiritually mature Christians.

Take comfort in the fact that God rewards those who diligently seek Him.

Finally, accept the encouragement of Romans 12:12 ”Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

The Bible says ”Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves!” (2 Cor. 13:5). Well, are you in the faith? Have you examined yourself? It is easy to ask and sometimes difficult to answer.

The Christian faith is as follows. There is one God in all existence who is eternally existent from the past through to the future. God is a Trinity of three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 13:14); they are not three gods, but one God (Is. 44:6-8). Jesus is the Word who was God and was with God that became flesh (John 1:1,14) and was made under the Law (Gal. 4:4). Because we are sinners (Rom. 3:23), who have broken God’s law (James 2:11), and because we cannot be saved in anyway by our own works (Rom. 4:1-5), Jesus bore our sins in His body on the cross (1 Pet. 2:24), died, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Cor. 15:3-4), in the same body He died in (John 2:19-21) so that as many as receive Christ (John 1:12) are justified by faith (Rom. 5:1) and escape the righteous wrath of God (Rom. 5:9).

What a lot of people fail to realize is that Jesus is not saving us from sin. Jesus is saving us from God! You see, when a person breaks the Law of God, there is a punishment that must be carried out upon that person. God is the one who carries out that punishment. This punishment is eternal because God is eternally holy and righteous. Our sins against God take on an infinite quality not because of who we are, but because of who God is — because we have offended an eternal and infinite God. Therefore, the sinner incurs an eternal and infinite offense against God. This means there is absolutely no way that a finite, sinful creature can undo the offense against an infinitely pure Being. This is why we need Jesus who is God in flesh. This means that His sacrifice has eternal and infinite value and it is infinitely sufficient to save us from our sins. Therefore, this means that it is only through Jesus that we can be saved and not by our own efforts in any way.

It is God who damns. It is God who judges. Sin does not send people to hell. God does. Of course, this is not a popular or ”feel-good” notion that God is the one who is righteously judging the sinner and righteously condemning him to eternal hell. But, that is the truth. Yet, thanks be to God that because He loves us, He sent His son to save us from our sins so that we might escape the righteous judgment of God. God is not some eternal ogre waiting to spit His wrath upon the weak and helpless. Not at all. He is loving and good and gracious and He desires that all be saved. He offers the sacrifice of His Son as the loving and gracious means by which we may be saved. It is a miraculous and wondrous act of love.

Now, what about you? Have you completely trusted in Jesus and in nothing else for the forgiveness of your sins? Have you received Christ? Are you relying on Jesus and Him alone for your righteousness, for your safety, your forgiveness, or are you putting even the smallest bit of your works before God as part of the reason you are to be saved? If you are relying in anyway on your efforts, then you are in great danger of damnation, if you’re saved at all. Righteousness before God does not come by your efforts, but through the sacrifice of Christ; otherwise, Jesus died needlessly (Gal. 2:21). If you could get to heaven by being good, then there was no need for Jesus to die for sins.

You are to examine yourself, to test yourself to see if you are in the faith. This means that you must first know what the Christian faith is and what it means that to enter into that faith. Furthermore, you must know and acknowledge that there is only one God in all existence, that Jesus is God in flesh, that you are a sinner, that you need to repent of your sins, and that the only way to find forgiveness is to trust in Jesus alone, by faith alone, through grace alone.

Don’t waste any time wondering. If you aren’t sure, ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins (1 Cor. 1:2). Receive Him (John 1:12). Turn from your sins and to Him. Trust Him alone.

Devotions are times when you focus on the person of God in prayer and/or the Bible and set your heart and mind on his divine truth. Devotions are quiet times of reflection, confession, examination, and worship. Our devotions must be Christ centered and seek to move us into a more intimate and personal relationship with our Lord.

Religion should be about GOD

John 14:15
If you love me, you will keep my commandments. (ESV)
Obedience is an Act of Worship
While the Bible places strong emphasis on obedience, it’s important to remember that believers are not justified (made righteous) by our obedience. Salvation is a free gift of God, and we can do nothing to merit it.

True Christian obedience flows from a heart of gratitude for the grace we have received from the Lord:

Any Messianics Around?
Posted at: 2013-02-11 04:10:31

For those of you who don’t know who are the Messianics…

NATSARIM (often referred to as Messianics) are the first-followers of Yahusha of Natsarith, the Messiah of Israel, who also obeyed Torah (The Covenant with Israel). They are reappearing on the Earth in the last days. Natsarim are identified as the original followers of Yahusha at Acts 24:5, and were persecuted, despised, and suppressed by the early Christian “church fathers”, who were quite different; the “church fathers” developed “Christianity” primarily at the Catechetical School of Alexandria, in Egypt, a place considered to be the repository of all human knowledge (Research the “Alexandrian Library”).

There belief is that all people outside the Covenant must engraft through the Covenant, written upon their hearts by the Spiritual indwelling of the Messiah.

DIFFERENCES:

Messianics: the true Hebrew Name of the Creator is called upon: Yahuah (yod-hay-uau-hay).

The Messiah’s true Name is used: Yahusha.

The weekly Sabbath is observed as a day of rest, according to the Commandment.

The 7 annual festivals commanded for Israel to observe are observed, and there is no observance of a single “Christian” festival, which are all derived from Pagan festivals.

Examples of these differences:

(*** Natsarim***)

Observe the Festivals

of Yahuah (Dt. 16, Lev. 23)

Yom Teruah

This is for the Guest that made the comment about Obama.

A Christian is someone who has been born again by God (John 3:3; John 3:7; 1 Peter 1:23) and has put faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8 tells us that it is “…by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”

Who are we to judge?

Paul:participated in the persecution of Christians until the time of his miraculous conversion on the way to Damascus; called by Christ

Moses: kills an Egyptian for striking a Hebrew

Abraham : was untruthful when he had Sarah tell the Pharaoh that she was his sister (Gen. 12:13).

Grace allows Him to forgive us even though we certainly do not earn or deserve such forgiveness (Eph. 2:8-9). When we walk in the light the blood of Jesus, his son keeps on cleansing us of our sins (I John 1:7). Therefore as forgiven sinners we serve our gracious God and he uses us to his honor and glory just as he did Abraham.

1 Corinthians 4:3–5

3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by a human 1court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. 4 For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord. 5 cTherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to dlight the hidden things of darkness and ereveal the 2counsels of the hearts. fThen each one’s praise will come from God.
