dont assume or take things for granted

It can be surprising to find that some people make the assumption automatically that expenses will be shared but the other person may have other ideas.

Don’t make the assumption and assume that you could pay for the ticket and the rest will be shared between the two of you, discuss and agree beforehand.

Work out clearly between the other person what is at stake and lay it out on the table so there are no misundertstanding.
