Parineeta is a well directed movie by Pradeep Sarkar, manages to get the best out of all the characters. Best on the novel of Saratchandra’s Chatterjee written in mid 90’d but looks a fresh story. Vidya Balan has shows that she has talent and she can portray different style of characters. She has shows lots of grace in the movie, Saif Ali Khan was first time look very natural in Parineeta that show that he is improving. Sanjay Dutt shows flow less in his royal touch. Music is the soul of the movie with the song like “Piyu Bole” and “kasto mazza” are the pick of the songs. Shantanu Moitra did a fantastic job as Parineeta becomes his first hit movie.

Movie Reviews and rating - Hum Tum

Storyline

Karan Kapoor (played by Saif Ali Khan) is a cartoonist at the news paper agency and has his best cartoons going under the name “HUM TUM”. He is a careless, frivolous and flirty guy having no space for girl’s feelings. Rhea is a simple girl (played by Rani Mukherjee), both of them meet on their way to New York. Two of them are opposite poles and has a big difference in their practical view towards life – especially love. In order to put the things right Karan kisses Rhea which results in the fight between them and leads to much resentment for each other.

After this incident they co-incidentally meet again at different places and the drama continues. Karan joins with his mother’s event management company to manage a wedding and there he comes to know that Rhea is getting married to Sameer (Abhishek Bachchan). Few years later when Karan goes to Paris to visit his father he finds broken Rhea who has become a widow as her husband died in an accident. He now being mature helps Rhea to get out of the sad situation but unfortunately does not succeed, then he meets her mother and promises her to bring the best groom for Rhea but he fails there too. It was good to see the guy who does not believe in relationship and used to say that love does not exists looking for a commitment.

Gorgeous Rani Mukherjee with cute and handsome Saif Ali Khan have given a good performance as expected. Saif Ali Khan was a perfect cast for Karana’s role and so did Rani in her emotional scenes. Director Kunal Kohli has shot the film exceedingly well and has extracted best performances from all the actors of the movie. Knitting animation Alias “Hum Tum” with the storyline was amazing idea of Karan Kohli to be appreciated.

Final Thoughts

Movie is good emotional love story and gives many chances to laugh but some where movie fails to convince the audience. Story narration is weak, which is something he will learn over a period of time. “Hum Tum” is yet another mile stone is Jatin-Lalit’s professional life with good mix of light romantic songs to disco and Hip Hop track by Rishi Rich.

Rating
“Hum Tum” bags 7 out of 10 stars for the outstanding performance by all the actors, good music and exotic location of Europe. Strong storyline and screenplay would have made it bigger box office hit.

    Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

Movie: Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
    Director: Abbas Tyrewala
    Time: 2008
Stars: Imran Khan, Genelia D’souza and Manjari Fadnis

    Snapshot of the story

“Jaane tu Ya Jane Na” is an outstanding fun flick from many of the first time debutants like Imran Khan (actor) and Abbas Tyrewala (director). A love story blended with a very close friendship due to which both of the lovers deny their love and think themselves as only good friends. The story is based on the same plot like that of ‘Quyamat Se Quyamat Tak” being a teenage love story. But it is the art director who is able to present it differently.

    Storyline
“Jaane Tu ya Jaane Na” is a story of a gang of 6 friends where Jai Singh Rathore aka Rats (played by Imran Khan) and Aditi Mahant aka Meow (played by Genelia D’souza) are the close friends. They are almost made for each other, everyone including their parents, friends knows this fact but they deny and say that they are just simply good friends and nothing more, But it is also another fact that both of them feel uneasy being away from each other.

Once Jai is called by Aditi’s parents for a talk about their engagement but both Jai and Aditi act childishly and reject the proposal. As a result of this Aditi’s parents starts searching for another guy who can be her life partner. When they get the perfect one, they engage Aditi with him. Now the pace of movie is slow and it is stretched a bit, but this is the most interesting part of the movie as due to jealousy from Aditi’s fiancé Jai looks for a girlfriend for himself. In the meantime, both Aditi and Jai realized their love for each other and start seeking each other out to find out whether the love is from both ends or not.

    Final Thoughts

Debutant director Abbas Tyrewala did an excellent job. “Jane Tu Ya Jaane Na” very simple story and does not have any thing that excites audience but it is the story narration that did the trick and it became a hit. Debutant Imran Khan - nephew of Amir Khan has done an outstanding job along with Genelia D’souza and gave the best performance. A.R. Rahman was up to the task in making the music for a romantic comedy. Naseerudin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, being both mature actors justified their presence on the screen.

    Rating

“Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” scores 8 points out of 10 for the outstanding job done by each and every member of the crew. Movie did well in the box office collecting about $20 million which is quite an achievement.
